In September 2022, Trinity Rowles’ life changed dramatically when her dad’s rescue dog attacked her. The dog, a Pitbull-Bulldog mix named Irish, was known for being gentle, almost like a “big teddy bear.” Trinity often cared for him, especially when her dad was away.
However, on that fateful day, after a heated argument with her dad, the stress in the household might have triggered Irish’s aggression.

Trinity described the attack as uncharacteristic of Irish. She explained that dogs like Irish are highly sensitive and can react unpredictably in tense situations. “Animals can only communicate in so many ways,” she remarked.
As she attempted to leave the room, Irish unexpectedly lunged at her, biting her nose.
Trinity’s dad tried to protect her by getting her into a fetal position, but the dog continued to assault her. Trinity remembered Irish grabbing her arm and treating it like a toy, dragging her across the yard. Then, unexpectedly, the dog stopped, walked away, and sat by the porch.
Neighbors and her dad rushed to her aid, calling the police and an ambulance. As they waited, her dad brought the dog inside.
When the police arrived, Trinity was placed on a stretcher. Although the attack was brief, it felt like an eternity. She described it as being in and out of reality. Trinity was aware of the attack and felt the pain but didn’t fully grasp the extent of her injuries.
She sustained damage to her face, ears, and arm and was taken to the hospital, where her memories of the ordeal grew hazy.

Trinity spent four days in the hospital after the attack and returned later for surgery to reconstruct her nose. At just 20 years old, she has already undergone four surgeries and may need as many as six more to repair her facial injuries.
One of the procedures involved a skin graft from her forehead and scalp, which led to hair growing on her new nose, a daily struggle for her.
The experience has left Trinity with PTSD, causing frequent flashbacks, sleep disturbances, and a reliance on therapy and medication. To help cover medical expenses, a fundraiser was established, raising over $6,400 toward a $10,000 goal.
The attack has shaken Trinity’s self-esteem, making it difficult for her to accept her altered appearance. She is now more aware of the potential dangers dogs can pose, something she had never considered before.
Additionally, she is coping with the psychological impact of having hair grow on her nose, which requires her to shave twice a week.

The 21-year-old has been documenting her recovery journey on TikTok, sharing updates about her healing process, including the unexpected hair growth on her nose. In a recent video titled “Let’s remember to be nice to humans,” she reintroduced herself to her audience, many of whom are familiar with her story.
In her post, she expressed gratitude to those who have supported her from the start and addressed her critics. She acknowledged the support she has received and noted that, despite some negativity, her experience has connected her with others who have faced similar challenges.
