Imagine a wild bear suddenly running towards a child. This was the scary moment little Gavin’s parents faced when a black bear decided to approach their son.

Before anything could happen, their dog Jake jumped in, barking loudly and chasing the bear away. Thankfully, the bear got the hint and left.

More and more, bears are wandering into places where people live. Why? Mostly because we’re building homes closer to where they live. Also, things like trash and pet food can attract them.

Experts say: if you see a bear, don’t try to be a hero like Jake. Black bears are big and strong. While they usually avoid trouble, they can be dangerous if they feel threatened.

It’s worth noting: while Jake was brave, not all pet and wild animal encounters end happily. Dogs love to protect their families, but wild animals can be unpredictable. It’s always best to be careful and informed.
