Story of Dennis Beard’s 500hp Custom 1966 Mustang 289 V8

Dennis Beard’s custom built Rangoon Red 1966 Coupe powered by a well dressed 289 V8 motor is another gorgeous classic Mustang I am proud to feature on Hot Cars. Check out the video I put together for Dennis and read the full story below!

Being a Mopar man for many years Dennis comes across this Rangoon Red 1966 Mustang Coupe back in 2015 while he was looking for an old muscle car to use for the “Kruisin ForKids” car shows him and a group of friends organize to raise funds for children with terminal illness. He knew 1st generation Mustangs draw a lot of attention at car shows and it was like God put this Rangoon Red pony in front of him as the Dodge dealer Dennis buys cars from bought the Mustang just before he got there. Currently Dennis and the rest of the members of the club have raised over $100,000 with all of the funds being donated.

All the work is done by Dennis and his buddy Russ and then Eric Gray has performed the paint correction, detailing and ceramic coating to complete the show stopping look of the Rangoon Red 1966 Mustang Coupe. Dennis has named the pony “Annette” after his Mother and although he drives the muscle car daily he has a room full of awards.

But Dennis Beard’s custom built 1966 Mustang is not all about the looks. The heart of the pony is a nicely detailed 289 cube V8 engine bored 0.30 over and dressed with Edelbrock E-Street aluminum heads, 1.7 Roller Rockers, chrome high-flow water pump, Comp Cam, aluminum radiator, Edelbrock carb and Weiand Street Fighter aluminum intake that Dennis estimates at over 500 horsepower on race gas.
