Alexander, after an extended 15-month stay at Wags and Walks shelter in Los Angeles, saw countless dogs find homes before him.
For many dogs, a shelter becomes a short-term layover before finding their forever home.
However, for some like Alexander, it becomes an extended residence spanning months or even years.

Alexander, an approximately 3-year-old blend of a shepherd, Doberman, and potentially some dane, has been a part of Wags and Walks for about 15 months.
Rescued from a high-risk, overpopulated shelter, this 80-pound “gentle giant” has a demeanor that is nothing but affectionate.
A canine who’s always in high spirits, wagging his tail and yearning for human company.

Although he is a bundle of love and is working to improve his leash manners, he remained an overlooked gem at the shelter. While over 800 dogs found families to love, Alexander’s wait continued.

Chloe Esperiquette, Wags and Walks’ development manager, expressed the shared sentiment of the staff, noting the heartache of witnessing such a wonderful dog like Alexander being constantly overlooked.
However, after a long 477 days, hope rekindled. Wags and Walks jubilantly announced on January 27 that Alexander was on his way to potentially join a fantastic family.
The joy was evident: “After 477 days of patient waiting, our sweet boy might have found his forever home with a wonderful family!”
