Being forced to part from loved ones is a difficult situation, especially when it means saying goodbye forever.

When Fresa and her puppy sibling, Flor, were rescued from abandonment, Fresa never imagined that she’d have to watch her sister leave one day. But life had other plans.

After only a few days at the shelter, a kind family arrived with plans to adopt Flor, leaving Fresa confused and heartbroken.

Before arriving at Pet Rescue Solutions in South El Monte, California, Flor and Fresa faced difficult times. Their previous owner abandoned them in a paper bag, leaving them without a fighting chance.

Alone, traumatized, and too weak to fend for themselves, the two puppies must have been terrified as they struggled to breathe in that tiny bag.

Fortunately, a kind cyclist spotted them and immediately stopped. Rescuing Flor and Fresa became an act of compassion. Without hesitation, he scooped them up and brought them to the rescue.

“A Good Samaritan on a bike spotted something wiggling in a bag and rescued these two precious girls. Meet Flor, our brindle little puppy, and Fresa, our tan sweetheart,” Pet Rescue Solutions shared in an Instagram post.

Flor and Fresa had never known life without each other. They were all they had in the world.

Slowly, they began to come out of their shells, making friends with everyone, including the larger dogs. It was adorable to see the tiny pups crawling onto their bigger siblings, seeking cuddles.

Life seemed perfect until Flor received bittersweet news.

Flor and her soon-to-be family were thrilled about the upcoming change. After all the challenges they faced, the day finally arrived. The humans. The home. The family that this brindle sweetheart had never had. The life she eagerly anticipated.

“We are thrilled to share the heartwarming news that FLOR, one of our rescued puppies who was found with her sibling in a paper bag, has found her forever home,” the rescue announced on Instagram.

But one loose end remained—her sister, Fresa.

While Flor met her new family, Fresa stayed in the stroller where she and her sister had shared many adventures. She had so many questions.

Who are these people? Why are they holding my sister?

Wait, are they leaving?

Then, she understood. Her beloved sibling was leaving, not just for a day, but forever. The two parted ways, leaving a huge void in each other’s lives.

Fresa was heartbroken. She couldn’t bear the thought of Flor being gone, as her sister was practically her other half. She spent days healing from the loss, but thankfully, she wasn’t alone.

She had a new family of dog siblings and the best caregivers to support her.

Although she and Flor closed one chapter in their lives, there’s no doubt that Fresa will find a loving home too. She just needs the right timing!
