The Maroon Oriole

The maroon oriole (Oriolus traillii), is a species of bird in the Oriolidae family. The male’s body is covered in glossy crimson-maroon plumage, with black wings, head, and neck, finished off with a blueish beak and a chestnut-maroon tail.

Females a slightly darker when compared to the male.

Juveniles have lighter-colored bodies.

The maroon oriole is found in many parts of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet, and Vietnam.

In their natural habitat, Maroon Orioles prefer to live in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

These birds dine mainly on wild figs, berries, insects, and nectar.

These birds breed from April through to May when a large cup-shaped nest is built from bast fiber bound together with cobwebs. Both the male and female members of this species share parental duties.

This species does not approach the thresholds for Vulnerable under the range for size criteria as it has an extremely large range.
