Duke, the family’s dog, came from a Portland, Connecticut, orphanage. Duke is not happy living in the orphanage, yet he ends up being the perfect friend for his family.

Six years later, Duke thanks Brusso in the most considerate way imaginable!

Harper, the family’s new infant daughter, was just brought home when Duke developed a strong protectiveness over his sister.

The family was peacefully sleeping one night when Duke suddenly entered his parents’ room and jumped into their bed.

He was trembling uncontrollably and defiantly ignored all directions. His mother finally realized something wasn’t right.

Nine-week-old baby’s room, where Duke led his parents and informed them of a child who was not breathing at all.

They rushed the child to the ER, where the doctor intervened just in time to save Harper’s life!

Duke eventually relaxed after making sure his sister was well and breathing normally.

The thought of what may have happened if Duke hadn’t remembered them in time made the family shudder. They will always be grateful to their child who saved them even though he has no idea that he is a hero!
