In the US state of Louisiana, there was the largest flood in recorded history. Thirty thousand individuals had to be evacuated, 40,000 homes were submerged, and thirteen people died.
But, even in the middle of all this chaos and destruction, there were brave volunteers who assisted in rescuing both people and animals that were caught by the raging elements.
The dogs became stuck in a water trap and were there for at least 16 hours. Many locals are helping with the rescue efforts, so Mike and Darrell are not the only heroes.
On August 15, Josh Petit posted this image to Facebook with the following caption:
“Baton Rouge was hit by a flood this morning, and in just two hours, the water level rose by 2.5 meters. A nightmare only. In fact, I only caught a glimpse of the disturbance near the bushes out of the corner of my eye. Nothing else was visible up close.
