The dog Josephine, better known as “Pheenie,” was abandoned after her owner was deported. She sought protection from the rain and heat behind a shipping container in a junkyard. She lived off leftovers and crumbs that the locals threw to her for nine years while she was alone. But eventually she was overtaken by time.

Pheenie’s health had gotten worse by the time she was a senior dog as a result of the prolonged stress and neglect. She had a spinal cord infection, worsening dental issues, a urinary tract infection, numerous excruciating breast tumors, and had lost her right eye after being hit by a truck.This awful movie follows the volunteers from Hope For Paws as they attempt to rescue Pheenie from her lonely situation. Despite the difficulty of the surgery, Pheenie gradually realized that someone had come to save her in her old age. She hugged her rescuers with a forlorn look on her face, her relief obvious. To accommodate her increasing medical needs, Pheenie was placed in a long-term foster care program. She lived on her foster home’s expansive farm for five lovely months, where she was happy, pampered, and carefree until she passed away from old age. Pheenie’s final days were surrounded by unrelenting affection despite her tragic existence of poverty and isolation.
