A neglected dog in a garden is taken in by the police officer who saved her

In a public park in Bloomington, Indiana, a malnourished, hurt, and abandoned boxer-pit bull mix was found on the ground. She was discovered by bystanders, who immediately called the sheriff’s department for aid. For the onlookers, it was tragic.

Within minutes, Rosie Ahlberg, Jeff’s fiancée, was driving back to their house with the dog, whom they named Daisy, in the backseat. Because the neighborhood animal shelter was closed for the day, the poor dog was stranded. The couple decided to host her for the evening.Daisy was taken as soon as Ahlberg, a regular volunteer, could to the City of Bloomington Animal Care and Control facility. After tending to some open wounds and cooling some burns, they determined that she had a torn ACL, a torn meniscus, a luxating patella, and most likely years of emotional anguish. Only a few years old, Daisy has already had four owners, and they all managed to find her.
The owner said that Daisy had been struck by a car in April and that they no longer wanted anything to do with her.

Ahlberg and Ripley saw this as the perfect opportunity to express their concern for Daisy.

According to Ahlberg, Jeff “has a big heart for animals.” It was a big step for the couple to have another pet because they already had a rescue dog and two cats.

She got along so well with the other animals in their home that the couple was unable to resist adopting her. Ahlberg said, “We truly wanted to give this dog the opportunity to experience love and what a wonderful home is.

Daisy quickly adjusted to her new environment. Despite being just a few weeks old, she has already become accustomed to being petted, doesn’t flinch at loud noises, and gets along well with the other animals.

She occupies less space in the bed, but Ahlberg said, “She’s such a sweet dog and she deserves it.”

Daisy’s head is always pressed up against the bedroom window as I go for school in the morning, Ahlberg continued. In the few weeks it has taken her to adjust to her new home, Daisy’s affection for her family has been evident.

Daisy’s condition is getting better, but surgery is still required to repair her wounds.
