Especially when the dog is in such poor health, it is always upsetting to see a dog left behind by its owner. Thankfully, there are kind people in the world who are willing to step up and give these sorrowful creatures another chance.
Recently, a pit bull who was extremely underweight and immobile was abandoned, and it led to the predicament. However, Maggie is now fully recovered.
A dog named Maggie that had been abandoned was taken on July 29 by the Orange County Animal Shelter in Virginia. Her alarmingly low weight of just 27 pounds—less than half of what would be considered healthy—was reportedly discovered by a citizen, according to WVIR.
Gina Jenkins, the shelter’s director, told WVIR that Maggie was “practically lifeless” and was unable to move, get up, or walk.
The dog, according to her, was also slow and dehydrated, and had demodectic mange and conjunctivitis.
Jenkins thinks the owner won’t be found despite the fact that this is a serious case of animal abuse. They are putting their efforts into giving her the love and attention she has been denied: “No one’s going to come forward. Our firstborn will be her.
Maggie is currently receiving good care and is recovering, but given her health, it won’t be simple: it will reportedly take at least 3 to 4 months, and she may never fully regain her hair.
Everyone is nonetheless adamant about giving this dog another chance. Because of how moving her story was to online supporters, they raised more money than they had hoped to in just one day for her care, raising thousands of dollars.
Despite still having a long road ahead of her, the shelter posted on Facebook that she was improving slightly every day. “We’ll update you as she progresses,” she said.
Maggie’s spirit has been rising, despite the fact that she still has a long way to go. She has been settling in and getting cozy with food and blankets after experiencing such cruelty and neglect.
She is flourishing, I can tell.
Amazing things can happen when an animal is given love, care, and food, Jenkins told WVIR. She cherishes her blankets and likes to nestle in them.
We’re relieved Maggie is now receiving excellent care and is recovering despite the tragic way in which she was abandoned.
Send your best wishes to Maggie and share this story.
