John was out for a morning stroll when he heard the nearby frozen river moan. A little puppy, possibly no more than a few months old, was attempting vainly to break free from the ice as he approached closer. John didn’t pause since he was aware that in order to save the small animal, he needed to act immediately.
John approached closer and saw that the dog had been trying to chase after a ball that had rolled into the ice and had since frozen in place. John grabbed the dog in his arms and swiftly headed back to the shore, where he would be safe.
John didn’t want to risk his own or the puppy’s safety, so he had to take additional care to prevent falling and slipping on the dangerous journey back. After what felt like an age, John and the dog eventually reached the shore, and the puppy was there, safe and sound.
The puppy warmed softly in John’s arms and soon started to lick his face and wag its tail with excitement. The owner was overjoyed to hear from John when he informed them that their pet had been located. John then brought the dog to an animal shelter close by.
