This street dog, like Mary when Jesus was born, gave birth to seven puppies in a barnacle full of straw.
In a simple tent on the main plaza of Palenque, Mexico, was a wonderful Nativity scene on display. This one has the typical selection of holiday figurines posing in serene quiet, but there’s a new element that’s unexpected: a pregnant stray dog.
According to reports, the cute puppy used the Christmas nativity scene as a safe haven since it felt protected there. If necessary, she could provide lighting and take a break from the frigid streets. In the straw, she was curled up when local journalist Eric Guzmán discovered this.
In addition to allusions to holiness, Dejando Huellitas SOS Palenque’s animal lovers have stepped up to secure the dogs’ care both now and in the future and have begun seeking for homes for them to reside in.
The puppies’ birth inside the Christmas manger is not a miracle in Eric’s eyes, but he does think it will have a lasting effect. As citizens, the journalist anticipated that “we will be more aware of stray dogs and would adopt them rather than buy them.” Regardless of their origins, he argued, we should love them.
