Those who abandoned her have no heart at all.
Magnolia is the canine ambassador for the truth that hope endures all things. Walking around with a six-kilogram bundle strapped to your body is difficult.
Even if someone tried to survive under such conditions, it wouldn’t be easy, but it would be much worse for an abandoned animal.
The former owner of Magnolia decided to leave her to fend for herself on Mahogany Road in the US Virgin Islands. People who were affected by his plight brought attention to the dog, and volunteers from the Animal Protection Center helped him.
These people had no idea what they would see, and the dog was immobile owing to the tumor’s weight. Magnolia had serious health issues that needed to be resolved as soon as possible.
The veterinarians organized his surgery despite his difficult movement. After confirming that the female dog’s heart was in good shape, this was done. The check revealed that the dog was not straying because she was receiving the necessary nutrition.
The risk was heightened because of the tumor’s size because anything could happen while performing the procedure. The dog’s recovery was hoped for by the veterinarians and caregivers. In fact, the shelter asked for prayers for this dog on social media.
Fortunately, these prayers were answered when two hours after the procedure, little Magnolia started to wake up because the anesthetic was completely gone.
6.75 kg of tumor mass were removed with the operation. Following suturing, this dog fully recovered. The veterinarians were proud of what she had endured.
It must have been a strange but liberating time for her. Magnolia’s sutures were still tender and fresh, making it difficult for her to walk for an extended period of time. When they all saw her standing, they were all in tears.
Since it took the dog weeks to regain both her health and her confidence, rehabilitation was not an easy process. Magnolia was terrified of the pain she recalled from having to walk, but it was the past already, and she would soon be able to verify it for herself.
Magnolia was placed in a transitional home after being discharged from the hospital, where she was kept company and had her recovery kept track of. Fortunately, the growth wasn’t cancerous, so all they had to worry about was getting it back to normal.
The dog was brought back to the shelter after a few months, where she is now flourishing and receiving excellent care from all the volunteers who helped save her life.
It’s comforting to see how the street-rescued dog eventually recovered her joy and her grin. The world needs more individuals like him.
